Workshop Frequently Asked Questions

What is therapeutic art? Therapeutic art making helps people to learn about themselves through creative exploration. Therapeutic benefits may include gaining self-confidence and learning new skills.

What happens in one of your workshops? Workshops typically include education and discussion on a wellness or mental health topic, relevant art making, and time for optional sharing to enrich the experience.

What does it mean that your workshops are non-clinical? While I am a trained, credentialed therapist, these workshops are not therapy. The purpose is for participants to find new ways to explore self-care through the art making process. Even those not interested in therapy can benefit from the experience.

Can I set up a workshop in a clinical setting? Yes! These workshops complement treatment in a clinical setting by providing valuable psychoeducation and teaching creative coping methods for individuals in care or as a staff professional development experience.

Who are these workshops right for? Almost anyone! Some groups I have worked with include mental health professionals, educators, corporate clients and staff, doulas, gym/yoga studio members, chiropractic patients, families, individuals receiving mental health services, older adults, and parents.

Who are these workshops not right for? Groups mainly interested in perfecting art techniques. Therapeutic art is an opportunity for non-judgmental creative self-expression. While participants often create something they really love and learn some new art skills, the primary focus is on the total art-making experience rather than a "perfect" finished product.

What do your workshops cost? Fees are based on workshop length, number of participants, supplies needed, and travel. I will provide art supplies when workshops are on-site at your location. I will provide you with a breakdown of costs once we determine together what is needed to support your group.
